Far North REAP recently launched the KiwiSkills programme at their premises in Kaitaia providing Northland jobseekers with the opportunity to gain an ICDL Certificate and increase their employability.

“Since our launch date we have had a steady number of registrations with participants underway on their journey and enjoying the convenience that this course provides by way of studying at their own pace in the comfort of their own home or using one of the five computers available in the Far North REAP student lounge,” says Simone Edwards, Far North REAP Executive Assistant.

Far North REAP, whose mission is to ‘strive for excellence in the pursuit of world class learning opportunities for Far North communities’ recognised the opportunity KiwiSkills for Jobseekers presented in helping realise their mission.

Participants are supported by Ana Vivian, the designated KiwiSkills trainer. With the organisation gaining Accredited Test Centre status, students can not only train onsite but they can also take their ICDL Certificate tests. “Sitting tests or exams can be nerve-wracking for anyone, so being able to do this in a familiar setting is usually seen as a bonus,” says ICDL Marketing Executive Sarah Lee.

As the number of KiwiSkills providers steadily grows more communities throughout New Zealand will get the same opportunity as Northland. To find out about becoming a KiwiSkills delivery partner read more here.
